Rod is a well-known professional Counseling Astrologer in Cape Town. He has studied Astrology since the age of 11 in 1974, and after graduating with a BA in Psychology at Wits (1983), finally began practicing as a full-time Astrologer in 1989. He concentrates on a psychological and spiritual approach to Astrology, and has a special interest in Medical Astrology. Rod was initiated as a Swazi Sangoma in 1982 at the age of 19, and since living in the Cape has furthered his study of African healing and spiritual traditions under the guidance of Xhosa healers.

Rod is the author of Soul Talks and The Time of Your Life. He is the author of two previous books, A Meditator's Manual and Understanding Reincarnation, a wide variety of articles for most major South African journals, magazines and newspapers, two meditation CDs as well as a series of computer programs for Astrologers. He is well known for his regular radio show, 'Cosmically Speaking', on Cape Town radio station Cape Talk. He lectures extensively around the country on a variety of metaphysical subjects and has a special interest in traditional and Vedic Astrology. He teaches a three-year Diploma course in professional astrology.
